Katharine Hepburn: Some Hefty Prices

The decision is yours--what to do; where to go; whom to love. Absolutely. But don't forget the price. Everyone always forgets the price. We pay for everything we do. It's usually okay and worth every penny, but people are often surprised when the check comes.

No one is going to tell me how to live or how to love, and I've paid some hefty prices, but I'm here and I'm free and I'm doing fairly well. I'm doing it--whatever this life is--as only I could do it or care to do it.

And that, I think, is the point of all these questions and searching. Love and live in the way that makes you useful.
