I marvel at--and envy--happy people. I have met a few in my life: Intelligent, sensitive people who are able to meet life in a positive, giving manner. It is a gift, like faith, I suppose, and they never question the beauty of life or their place in the bestowing of those given to them. Eva Marie [Saint] is the epitome of this person: Glowing with talent and intelligence and humor and health, and so kind and patient. I waited a long time for the mask to fall, but there is no mask. There is only love. I would recommend to so many people a stay by her side for a few months--better than any hospital or hat factory for getting the neurons in order.
